Mobile photography Tips and Tricks: Capture real Emotions

Asking a model to pose for a camera is very easy but when it comes to animals, I bet it's not especially if the animal is a cat 🐱. In this blog, I will share the trick I used to click this picture.

Requirements :

  • A selfie stick
  • A Bluetooth shutter
  • A bright surrounding is preferred for capturing sharp burst images.
  • Patience

Procedure:

  1. Caress the cat and gain his/her trust.
  2. Keep the phone silent/do not disturb mode. This will prevent scaring the cat in case of sudden calls or notifications.
  3. Find an appropriate location such that the cat is facing the light. In other words, the light source is illuminating the object and it is not behind it.
  4. Turn on the Shutter Sound of the camera application.
  5. Attach your device to a selfie stick and connect the Bluetooth shutter.
  6. Stretch your selfie stick closer to the object.

Following images are handheld shots where the cat moved away

Using a Selfie-Stick allowed me to move closer without frightening the cat

However, the main challenge was to grab her attention.

To get her attention, I clicked the Bluetooth shutter once which caused a shutter sound from the phone speaker. The cat started looking at the source of sound which in my case was the phone. At this point, I took a burst shot (approximately 10 frames per second).

THE FINAL RESULT
